Leon County Government's Volunteer LEON is now poised to better help volunteers make a difference in our community with Get Connected 2.0. Launching this month, Get Connected 2.0 is a volunteer engagement and management platform that helps nonprofits find and pair volunteers with opportunities that align with their goals. This web-based software is making it easy and convenient for volunteers and agencies to engage with one another to better effect change in our community. Now mobile friendly, Get Connected provides social sharing opportunities via Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and more. Much like Facebook, non-profit organizations in our county can create profiles that highlight their mission statements, contact information, needs, and events. Likewise, interested volunteers are able to create individual profiles specifically tailored to their interests, join volunteer groups, become fans of participating agencies, and track non-profit agencies' needs and events. Get Connected offer volunteers a more personal, inviting experience. The platform recommends specific agencies, opportunities, and events based on a volunteer's interests and past volunteer activity. Other volunteer-friendly features include easier management of interests, downloadable volunteer report cards with slick graphics, and better ways to track and visualize their volunteerism efforts. Get Connected will help organizations better manage, grow and track volunteerism for our citizens, making this a oewin-win" for our community. oeParticipating as a volunteer in Leon County has shown me the amazing amount of work and passion that goes into the public services that the citizens of Leon County benefit from everyday," said Bailey Williams, a Leon County volunteer. oeThis opportunity has exposed me to different sides of my own community and allowed me to help make the daily lives of other people better, and that is the true value of volunteerism. The Get Connected tool will allow more young people to get involved and I believe that can only have positive effects in our community." From the nonprofit perspective, Matt Vossler, Volunteer Coordinator for Kids Incorporated of the Big Bend, says, oeWe are thrilled with the mobile friendly enhancements that give us the ability to access and use Get Connected from any mobile device. The Get Connected mobile service provides quick and simple tools that help us manage our agency page, which allows us to track and report our volunteer activities more efficiently than ever before." Get Connected is a free service of Leon County Government™s Volunteer LEON and is open to all citizens and community-based agencies, to explore the opportunities provided by the Get Connected tool visit, www.volunteer.volunteerleon.org.
